Size: 6x3.5x2.5 cm
Species: Calcite
Locality: Meikle Mine, Bootstrap District, Elko Co., Nevada, USA
Description: Here is a wonderfully translucent calcite crystal from the Meikle Mine, with a razor sharp termination. The piece has great luster and is undamaged beyond the contacted base. This particular specimen was collected by Casey Jones when he held the commercial mineral specimen collecting contract with the mine. The Meikle Mine is now a part of the Goldstrike Mine which is a joint operation between Barrick and Newmont. This massive mine combines the Betze-Post open-pit with the Meikle and the Rodeo underground mines. A wonderful specimen from an important American mining locality. From the Casey Jones collection.
