Locality: Pingwu beryl mine, Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co. Sichuan, China

Description: These find of cassiterite at pingwu ranks among the best ever found for the species. The cassiterites are sharp, lustrous, with an excellent metallic luster. These specimens are mined at high altitude in Alpine conditions in an area that is only accessible 3-4 months out of the year. These contemporary masterpieces will undoubtedly become classics once production tapers off and the number of good specimens are exhausted. This particular specimen features a nicely contrasting yellow mica matrix which really serves to highlight the contrast of color and geometry of the two species. This specimen has lovely twin situated front and center that measures approximately 2cm in length.
