Fluorite, Calcite, Denton Mine, Harris Creek, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Size: 19x13.5x9 cm
Species: Fluorite, Calcite
Locality: Denton Mine, Harris Creek, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Description: A lovely zoned purple and blue fluorite the patterning of which is iconic of the Denton Mine. The specimen is cabinet sized with the largest focal crystal measuring over 12cm wide. The specimen has never been restored as is evidenced by the small “rat chews” as miners in the district call them on some of the corners. There are small lustrous light yellow calcites on the left hand size of the specimen which further confirm that this is indeed a Denton Mine specimen. This specimen absolutely glows when properly lit in a display case. A Midwestern classic!
