Fluorite, Calcite, Hill Ledford Mine, Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Size: 10.5x8x5 cm
Species: Fluorite, Calcite
Locality: Hill Ledford Mine, Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Description: Pale yellow-green fluorites with visible internal zones from this Illinois locality. There are a number of double terminated, scalenohedral calcites on this specimen which rests on some minor galena. There are small sphalerites dotting the face as well. Lustrous all around, with sharp edges. A fantastic fluorescent specimen as well, the calcites glow orange and yellow, the fluorite glows blue, and there are zoned petroleum inclusions in the fluorite. In good condition, I do note a few chipped calcites and minor cleaved fluorite corners that do not overly distract. Ex. Richard Inden
