Description: This miniature specimen is a lovely “Herkimer Diamond” quartz scepter. The top scepter is fully transparent and glassy with a perfect termination. The black quartz stem and additional crystals on the side provide a sharp color contrast attributed to inclusions of anthraxolite (pyrobitumen).

Herkimer diamonds are high quality doubly terminated quartz crystals which come from the area around Herkimer county in New York. These quartz crystals are famous worldwide, sought after by collectors for their extreme clarity and sharp crystalline form. There are a variety of localities within Herkimer county where Herkimer diamonds can be found. These particular specimens come from the Treasure Mountain Diamond Mine, which is a less common locality that is unique due to its fine sceptered specimens with black anthraxolite inclusions.
