Morganite, Bennett Quarry, Buckfield, Oxford County, Maine, USA

$2,800.00

Size: 8.5x5x3 cm

Species: Morganite

Locality: Bennett Quarry, Buckfield, Oxford County, Maine, USA

Description: Here is a morganite a famous East Coast pegmatite locality. The mine is perhaps best known for the “Rose of Main” an intensely colored 50lb morganite crystal that was discovered in 1989 which was later broken down into cutting material. As unfortunate as that incident was there are other morganites that have come from this iconic locality. This specimen is a full floater with top notch luster and unique etching. The color is a more desirable delicate powder pink rather than a salmon pink. This specimen is in pristine condition with no damage visible. There is an associated cream colored spherical mineral on the back side likely cookite.
