Pyromorphite, Bad Ems-Nassau, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

$400.00

Size: 4.1x3.5x3.5cm

Mineral: Pyromorphite

Locality: Bad Ems-Nassau, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Description: If you are quite a serious collector you will recognize why a Bad Ems pyromorphite is desirable. However if you are unfamiliar with this locality and its history please let me give you a bit of background information. The primary reason that these pyromorphites are so sought after is the history associated with them. The good pyromorphites recovered from this area were mined in the 1800’s. Even if it was mined at the end of collecting in this area that would place the specimen in the 1890’s which would make this specimen about 130 years old!! Its amazing these were collected, preserved, curated and handed down through 4 generations of miners and collectors! Additionally although the crystals are brown they really are quite large for the species and are extremely sharp. Here is a rock from the 1800’s that won’t break your collecting budget. Please note this specimen does have 1 repair which was done at an unknown time prior to me acquiring the specimen. Ex. Moebs Collection.

Please feel free to contact me for more photos or videos of the specimen.
