Rhodochrosite, Quartz, Sweet Home Mine, Alma Mining Dist., Park Co., Colorado, USA
Size: 3.0x1.9x1.4 cm
Species: Rhodochrosite, Quartz
Locality: Sweet Home Mine, Alma Mining Dist., Park Co., Colorado, USA
Description: The original sweet home mine has been shutdown for almost 20 years at this point and specimens are becoming harder and harder to find. Here we have a nice original Sweet Home Mine rhodochrosite with quartz crystals jutting up from its base. The specimen has good faces and sharp edges along with a nice saturated color. While it is not technically a thumbnail since it is 3cm, it could be displayed in a perky box if desired. To learn more about the locality see The Mineralogical Record Vol.29, No.4, July - August 1998.Ex. Ronald Harvey
