Rutile on Hematite, Cavradi gorge, Curnera Valley, Tujetsch, Surselva Region, Grisons, Switzerland

$1,500.00

Size: 4.1x3.1x1.7cm

Mineral: Hematite, Rutile

Locality: Cavradi gorge, Curnera Valley, Tujetsch, Surselva Region, Grisons, Switzerland

Description: These famous "Iron Roses" are collected in the mountains of Switzerland. They are collected by mountain climbers at high altitudes. There is no machinery allowed to be used when collecting these specimens in the alpine clefts. Due these limitations a small number of specimens tend to be available and few leave Europe since they are so highly prized by local collectors. This particular specimen features gorgeous red rutile crystals on lustrous hematite with beautiful aesthetic arrangement. If you like alpine minerals or European classics this would be a great addition to your collection.
