Selenite, Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Size: 8.5x7.5x6.5 cm
Species: Selenite
Locality: Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Description: A Canadian classic, these floater specimens of selenite are a light yellow color and fluoresce incredibly bright blue/white, with a phosphorescent green afterglow that lasts for quite a few seconds. They are just as display worthy in plain light, with sharp edges, lustrous faces, and gemmy interior. This specimen is in great condition, I note only one slight bruise to a termination. An aesthetic crown of three crystals juts from the top, and there is some fish-tail twinning present as well. For over 20 years now, collecting has been carefully controlled and enforced to be closed to the public.
