Selenite, Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Size: 9.5x7.5x7 cm
Species: Selenite
Locality: Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Description: A Canadian classic, these floater specimens of selenite are a light yellow color and fluoresce incredibly bright white with blue understones. These specimens also exhibit a phosphorescent green afterglow that lasts for quite a few seconds. They are just as display worthy in plain light, with sharp edges, lustrous faces, and gemmy interior. This specimen is in pristine condition, with no significant visible damage. Thick, blocky crystals all around, with clean terminations. For over 20 years now, collecting has been carefully controlled and enforced to be closed to the public. Ex: Gene Schlepp. Please note the UV photo looks more blue due to the fluorescent photography they appear more white in person.
