Silver, Dioptase, Mindouli, Pool Department, Republic of the Congo
Size: 11x9x5 cm
Species: Silver, Dioptase
Locality: Mindouli, Pool Department, Republic of the Congo
Description: A lustrous cluster of vibrant, well terminated dioptase in a vug of matrix, with multiple pieces of crystalline silver nestled in between. A unique and uncommon combination from the Congo. Minor associated quartz, and in good condition, with just a few visible dings to some terminations on the dioptase. These specimens are very unusual and I had to comb through huge amounts of material searching for this very unique association. For anyone interested I am happy to provide a copy of the SEM EDS analysis done on one of the specimens from this lot.
